Hello, my name is Marc Tönsing and Marc.TV is my weblog.
Less (code) is more
Many functions on this website I published myself as WordPress Plugins under the GPL2 license for the general public. More code from me can be found on my GitHub profile. In the comments, the netiquette. applies.
Study and Career
After the Bachelor of Science in Media Informatics and Design (Cooperation of the University of Applied Sciences for Design and the Technical Faculty of the University of Bielefeld) I studied the Master of Arts in Interdisziplinärer Medienwissenschaft at the University of Bielefeld.
After that it went to ZEIT Online to Hamburg. I worked there for over three years, first as a web developer and later as a project manager in the frontend team. From July 2011 to December 2014 I worked for EatSmarter as technical manager in the middle of the Schanzenviertel in Hamburg. Eatsmarter previously ran on Typo3 and was migrated by us to Drupal 7. In a agile process with Kanban and a five-person team we continuously developed the platform further.
After a short creative break, I first worked a few meters away from my old job as Technical Project Manager and after almost 4 years as Account Manager at eos.uptrade GmbH. Since August 2018 I have been working for the company HaCon – A Siemens Company as Account Manager and Project Manager.
During my studies I was the scientific assistant of the lecturer and filmmaker Fabio Magnifico. Among other things I have his film seminar “Caution Shooting!” and “Caution Soap“. Together we have conducted Videoworkshops for the Department of Art & Music of the University of Bielefeld and other clients. As a sideline I also took care of the Notebook University of the Technical Faculty Bielefeld.
After an internship at ZEIT Online in Hamburg, I was internship at MTV Game One, which is also produced in Hamburg. I had the chance to stand in front of the camera. In this context I did a Mini-internship in the game area of the news site “Der Westen” of the WAZ Mediengruppe.
Here I write down everything that I think might be of interest not only to me.
“People, who waste their time playing, play the wrong games.”Marc
Unsuccessful on YouTube and on TV
Before and after my time at MTV Game One I regularly produced videos. After more than 15 years on YouTube, I haven’t earned a cent with it yet. And maybe it’s better that way. For me and the general public.
Guest with friends
With so much media presence I was invited to the panel discussion on “Dimensions of medial communication” at the University of Paderborn. I wrote my master thesis on the topic structural change of journalistic publishing with the kind support of ZEIT Online in the Pressehaus.
